Omakase in Pattaya — What to know
"Omakase" means "I trust you" — you let the chef decide. In Bangkok, omakase rooms are a celebration. In Pattaya, your options are quieter but no less worth the time. Here's an honest take.
What omakase actually means
Omakase isn't a buffet of expensive cuts. It's a conversation. You sit at the counter, the chef looks at what arrived that morning, and your dinner unfolds based on what's at peak.
In Tokyo, omakase ranges from a casual ten-piece neighborhood counter to multi-course private rooms. Both are omakase — both honor the idea that the chef knows better than you what's good today.
Pattaya's omakase scene
Pattaya doesn't yet have a dedicated 6-seat Edomae omakase room. What it does have is a small group of chefs who, if you ask, will plate you a chef's selection from what's freshest on a given evening. Wano Sushi is one of them.
This isn't a marketing pitch. It's just how we work — fish arrives daily from the Bangkok wholesale market, the sashimi platter is plated based on what looked best that morning, and our regulars often skip ordering by name and just ask "what should I have tonight?"
How to order omakase-style at Wano
Walk in, sit at the counter if available, and tell our staff: "chef's choice, please." Mention any allergies or strong preferences (no raw shellfish, prefer salmon, etc.). Then let the kitchen build a course around the daily catch.
This works best as a two-person meal — easier to plate variety, easier to share courses. Solo guests are welcome too; we'll just scale the selection.
What you'll typically experience
The chef's selection at Wano usually starts with our Signature Sashimi Platter (5 cuts of whatever's freshest), moves to a warm dish such as Beef Tataki, then onto a few nigiri pairs, and finishes with a roll. Miso soup throughout. Total time: about 90 minutes.
For prices, please ask staff or see our in-store menu when you visit. We don't post chef's-selection pricing because each plate depends on what's at market that day.
If you want a fuller omakase experience
For a multi-course, ฿4,000+ omakase with imported toro, uni, and a chef trained at Sukiyabashi-tier rooms, you'll want Bangkok — Sushi Masato, Tonkatsu Sushi, or Saa Sushi Sukhumvit. None of these exist yet in Pattaya. But for a casual chef's-choice tasting paired with a quiet Wongamat residential setting and 4.9★ Google service, Wano is the closest match.
